So, I had to do a review for my reviewing & criticism class again. I kinda just listened to excerpts from all the songs on the album. None in their entirety. I don’t have the money or time to go somewhere (other than Wal-mart. Friends don’t let friends buy music from Wal-mart!) & buy the CD. I also could not figure out how to download the CD from the web. I’m sure its easier than I think, but I’m not very technologically savvy.

What I did listen to, was awesome! It reminded of the good, new wave, older stuff. Unlike “Good Stuff” (1992), which is a good thing. If I’m not mistaken, Cindy was not on that album and they used some other blonde chick. I guess she was okay, but it just wasn’t the same.

Either way the new album is great. When I do have money, I plan on totally buyin’ it!

So most everyone feels that MTV used to be the best thing that ever happened to television. Its nothing more than a joke. None of the cool, obscure bands are ever shown. Around maybe 2002 (ish) MTVX was available for digital cable customers. Big surprise, it is now called MTV Jams and is solely rap videos. VH1 has somewhat tried to maintain good rock videos, but that is only on VH1 Classics, only available to digital cable customers. This takes me back to my earlier discussion, I only enjoy older bands. MTVX showed older bands as well as new rock acts that maybe I do not care for, but at least the band gets some exposure.

I know my friends and I love the old MTV and it seems most others do as well. Why MTV does not cater to this group, even if only for digital customers only? MTVX was the only reason my mom got digital cable in the first place.

So, I have decided to make this blog’s main focus music. I think the problem I may face with this is myself. I only like music up until about 1993. There is a handful of good, new artists, that I do like, but they are few & far between.

There is also the issue of bands such as Metallica, Aerosmith, Cockney Rejects, INXS, Motley Crue, Dropkick Murphys, etc. (the list is too llloooonnnggg), that were awesome when they started and for one reason or another,…that spark seems to fade with each new album. That spark being the sound, live show, antics on & off stage, etc. For some of these, a band member has died and the rest of the band tried to replace them. Easy enough, as long as it is NOT the lead singer! The band it does work for, is AC/DC. My favorite is Bon Scott, but Brian Johnson can do it just as good.

Well maybe I can start a ruckus!
